Joss Whedon spotted Andy while singing in a Universal City blues revue. He created the character of Lorne on Angel especially for him, a mind reading demon who can read people when they sing.

Born Andrew Alcott Hallett on august 4, 1975, in the Cape Cod village of Osterville, Andy attended Barnstable High School and then Assumption College in Worcester. Always very shy, Andy really stated to sing when Patti LaBelle invited him on stage at a Boston concert to perform with her "Somebody Loves You Baby". The duo got an ovation from the public.

Andy previously worked in Los Angeles as a personal assistant and a property manager. He got a representation only after appearing on the second season of Angel, which was his first ever acting job. After being a recurring character during three seasons, Andy joined the main cast in season five.

Andy has also made a cameo appearance in the Buffy the vampire slayer episode "Hush", has appeared in Amber Benson's Chance and did a voice over for Geppetto's Secret.

Andy lives in Los Angeles.
